Terms of Service

The service
Two Day Rule is a health and fitness app that helps you build a daily walking habit through financial accountability. You set a daily step goal and a commitment amount. If you miss your step goal two consecutive days, your commitment amount is charged to your saved payment method.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Two Day Rule.
- You are responsible for maintaining access to the Apple ID or Google account used to sign in.
- By using Two Day Rule, you agree to these Terms in their entirety.
How charges work
- You choose your own commitment amount during onboarding (from $1 to $100 USD, or local equivalent).
- Your step data is tracked automatically via Apple Health or Google Fit.
- If you miss your step goal for two consecutive days, your commitment amount is charged.
- Missing one day is allowed. Only two consecutive misses trigger a charge.
- Sick Mode reduces your daily goal on hard days (limited to 3 uses per rolling 30-day period). You also get up to 4 annual exemptions for illness, injury, or medical procedures. Exemptions reset each January.
- Days with fewer than 100 recorded steps are treated as data failures and will not count against you.
- You will not be charged more than 2 times per week, regardless of missed days.
Cancellation
- You can cancel your commitment at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect immediately and stops all future charges.
- Your account and streak history remain intact after cancelling your commitment. You can restart your commitment at any time.
- You can delete your account entirely from Settings. This permanently removes all your data within 30 days.
- Residents of the European Economic Area have a 14-day cooling-off period after their first commitment, during which they may cancel for a full refund of any charges incurred.
Payments
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By adding a payment method, you authorize Two Day Rule to charge your card when you miss two consecutive days.
- All charges are disclosed clearly during onboarding, before you enter any payment information.
- Charges are final except in cases of verified tracking errors, data failures, or disputes resolved in your favor.
- You can change your commitment amount once per calendar month in Settings. Payment method can be updated at any time.
Disputes
- If you believe you were charged incorrectly (for example, your steps were not recorded due to a device or app issue), you can file a dispute from Settings.
- We review all disputes and resolve them within 7 business days.
- When tracking data is ambiguous, we give the benefit of the doubt to the user.
Health data
- Two Day Rule reads your step count from Apple Health or Google Fit. We do not write to or modify your health data.
- Manually entered steps are excluded from your count.
- You can revoke health data access at any time via your device settings.
Not medical advice
Two Day Rule is designed to support general wellness and habit formation. It is not intended as medical advice. Health statistics shown in the app (such as mortality risk research) are for educational purposes only. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise program, especially if you have existing health conditions.
Accountability partners
- Partnering is optional. You can invite a friend or be matched with another user.
- Partners see your first name, profile photo, daily step count, and streak count. Nothing else.
- Partners can send nudge messages to encourage each other's progress.
- You can end a partnership at any time.
Disclaimer of warranties
Two Day Rule is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that step tracking will be accurate at all times due to variations in device hardware, software, and connectivity.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Two Day Rule's total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) $50 USD or (b) the total amount you paid to Two Day Rule in the 12 months preceding the claim. Two Day Rule is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Dispute resolution and arbitration
For users in the United States: any dispute arising from these Terms or the service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. You waive any right to participate in a class action or class arbitration. Claims must be filed within one year of the event giving rise to the claim.
For users in the European Economic Area: disputes may be brought before the courts of your country of residence under applicable local law.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes that affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
For users in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. For users in the European Economic Area, applicable local consumer protection laws apply.
